On Tuesday, February 6th, the Girls’ Varsity Basketball team took on the Lady Hornets of Scotlandville Magnet High School. Before the game started, players, parents, and supporters recognized #23, senior M’Laya Roberts (12), for senior night. During this memorable night, the Band of Blue and Varsity Cheer cheered on Roberts and the team.
“The most memorable part of playing basketball at Zachary High is growing a bond with the players and playing at every single game,” Roberts (12) said.
During the first half of the game, the Lady Hornets’ defense was strong, blocking numerous shots from the Lady Broncos. However, the Broncos’ accuracy was top-notch, and by halftime, the Broncos were ahead 26-15.
In the second half of the game, Scotlandville’s powerful defense kept up. However, by the fourth period, the Lady Hornet’s defense fell, and the Lady Broncos pulled ahead with a strong lead. The Lady Broncos kept up their lead and won the game 20 points ahead of the Lady Hornets with a score of 56-36.
