Recounting Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts Concert!

Rising pop star and former Disney star, Olivia Rodrigo, performed in New Orleans on Saturday, March 2; one of many stops on her Guts World Tour! Two die-hard fans recount the experience of a lifetime!

Music and cheers boomed from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans last Saturday, March 2, at Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts concert. The singer-songwriter debuted her musical career four years ago with the album Sour, which featured 11 songs, including the viral hit “driver’s license.” Her most recent album, Guts, has caught the attention of fans with popular songs like “vampire” and “bad idea, right?”

Madelyn Chatelain (10) attended the concert with her friend Meri Weather “Meri Hobbs” Wren (11).

Preparing months in advance, Chatelain bought tickets and planned her outfit.

She wore a silver dress that sparkled in the dark. She accessorized her outfit with silver-glittered shoes and white rhinestones.

The girls were blown away by the performance, especially with the special effects.

“My favorite part about the concert was the effects, and everything that she had. She had like a moon that she rode on, which was cool, around the audience, so she could see everyone,” Chatelain (10) said.

Before her musical career, Rodrigo was a Disney Channel actressAfter witnessing Rodrigo’s vocals on High School Musical:

The Musical: The Series, Chatelain decided to try her music.

“Whenever her first album came out in 2022, that was when High School Musical, the musical series was on, and I thought that I’d give her music a listen, and it was really good,” Chatelain (10) said.

Olivia Rodrigo wore many different outfits during the concert, but one of Chatelain’s favorites was her silver two-piece halter top and skirt, which she wore at the beginning of the show.

Another favorite of Chatelain’s was an unreleased song by Olivia, which indicated what Olivia’s future albums would sound like.

“My favorite is probably her unreleased song, ‘obsessed,’ because it’s relatable on so many levels,” Chatelain (10) said.

Quinn Langley (9) also attended the concert with a small group of friends. She loved the experience, but her favorite part was when Olivia serenaded the crowd while sitting on a beautiful crescent moon.

Like Chatelain, Langley became a fan after watching Olivia on Disney Channel.

“When she sang ‘All I Want’ in [High School Musical: The Musical: The Series], I loved her voice and the meaning behind her music,” Langley (9) said.

Among all the outfits that Rodrigo had, Langley loved her pink outfit while singing her unreleased song, “Obsessed.”

Langley’s favorite songs are “The Grudge” and “Traitor” because she can relate to them well.

She had VIP pit tickets and was able to be extra close to Olivia! Langley was unbelievably excited to experience the concert from the pit!

“I have been a fan of [Olivia Rodrigo] for so long, and it was so unreal getting to be that close to her,” Langley (9) said.

The tickets Langley purchased were anything but cheap, but the costs were worth it for the experience.

It’s safe to say that Olivia Rodrigo created a magical and memorable experience for these and several other students. Olivia’s Guts tour was a smashing success, from her powerful vocals to enchanting stage elements!
