Halloween is a fun time for fun, lots of free candy, and exciting events, but as people get older, they might feel as if they can’t they’re getting too old for Trick-or-Treating.

One reson might be judgement, as teens get older, the groups they’re with change, and they might feel pressured to not go because of different views. Teenagers usually care about what society thinks and how they view each other, so when they get older, they will drop things they like to do to impress people. Another reason might be because of busy schedules, a lot of teens play sports, go to clubs, and older teens have jobs they have to do, which then they might not have time to trick or treat. More reasons are wanting more freedom, neighborhood reactions, and changing interests.
When asked in groups, 1 out of 5 teens at Zachary high said they were tricking or treating, but 2 out of those 5 people said that they were staying home or doing something else not related to Halloween, with the other 2 people saying they were going to events with family or friends.
Arianna Hayes (9) said that she would be going trick or treating with friends this Halloween night. In her opinion, teens should still go trick or treating, as it is a good way to have fun with your friends and get candy, as well as letting your inner child out.
“Teens, especially high schoolers, should Trick or Treat,” said Hayes. “It’s fun to go as a group…”.
Unlike Hayes, Kayla Williams (9) said she might stay home or go out. Williams thinks teens should go, and she encourages all high schoolers to go have fun on Halloween night, gathering candy and spending time with friends or family.
Theres no limit to the age you must stop tricking or treating; it’s up to you! But do remember to be respectful and polite. But there are many options to do things, parties, hand out candy, or just hangout but whatever you do is up to you. Halloween is all about having a fun time, no matter how old you are.
