Scream 7 was released on Friday, February 27th, 2026. This movie brings back Sidney Prescott who must protect her family members Mark, who is her husband, and Tatum, who is her daughter. The movie focuses on themes like motherhood, legacy, and the dangers of extreme obsessions.
Act one starts with the opening scene of Scream. It starts off with two couples entering the Macher house, which is now an Airbnb. The Airbnb has decorations that reference the former killings.
After the couple searches around, they get hunted down by Ghostface, and he later burns down the Macher house. Furthermore, after the opening scene we see Tatum in her room and get a parallel scene with her boyfriend entering her room through her window, just like how Sidney’s boyfriend entered her room through her window. This creates a nostalgia-driven, high-stakes mystery that brings Sidney out of retirement from being hunted to protect her family. The story focuses on themes of Ai manipulation, online obsession, and the legacy of the original 1996 murders.
Act two starts with the investigation into the new Ghostface. It gets intense as the real world and digital world blurs, leading Sidney and Gale to a shocking discovery at the local psychiatric facility after supposedly seeing Stu alive through an online video call. Sidney and Gale searched for the facility and found Stu’s room abandoned after he left 2 weeks ago. There is a reveal that Stu is an Ai deepfake and wasn’t real after deceiving Sidney. Act two ends with both killers targeting Tatum and capturing her.
Act three delivers a high- stakes finale focusing on motherhood and legacy. To sum up, Sidney arrives at her home in search of her daughter and gets greeted with more Ai former Ghostface’s and a good friend of Dewey. Sidney later finds Tatum tied up and being held hostage. After intense attacks on the town, both killers are revealed to Sidney and the viewers. Moving on from the reveal, Sidney stalls the killers so Tatum can untie her feet and arms. After Sidney kills one of the killer, Sidney and Tatum have a long run of trying to kill the other one. In the end, the last killer was faced with a brutal ending.
All in all, this film was good, however, it didn’t really give me that scream aesthetic that the other films did have. This film was one of the worst films from the franchise, but apart from the other films, it was a good horror movie.
With six former films, the scream fandom has their own biased opinions on who’s the best Ghostface. Some have better motivation than others. And some have better brutality. I personally have my favorite Ghostface and will give a bias ranking on each former killer.
- Jill Roberts
Jill is Sidney’s cousin, motivated by a desperate desire for fame and achieving the “victim” status like Sidney. Her intention was to be the “sole survivor” of the new massacre. I personally love her the most due to her iconic reveal and really stealing the show after it.
- Amber Freeman
Amber’s motive was to provide “source material” for a better Stab sequel by staging a real life “prequel.” She is my second favorite due to her brutal killings.
- Mickey Altieri
Mickey’s motive was to be caught so he can blame horror movies for his actions during a high- profile trial to achieve “fame.” Mickey also has some brutal killings, and he is one of my favorites due to his sassy remarks and manipulation.
- Quinn Bailey
Quinn’s motive was to seek revenge after Samantha killer her brother, Richie, who is also a former Ghostface. She is one of my favorites due to her faking her death in Act one and having the most shocking reveal in the franchise.
- Stu Macher
Stu’s motive was claimed to be “peer pressured” participating for the thrill and “love of the game.” He is one of my favorites due to his crazy attitude and “dumb” characteristic.
- Roman Bridger
Roman is secretly Sidney’s half-brother, and his motive was seeking revenge after being rejected by his mother. He is the first solo Ghostface and that lead him to be an iconic and remembered killer.
- Billy Loomis

Billy’s motive was revenge on Sidney’s mother, Maureen Prescott, for having an affair with his father, which led to his own mother abandoning him. He is low in my list because his character was honestly just him seeking revenge and being crazy. He was a good character but there are better killers in my opinion.
- Nancy Loomis
Nancy’s motive was to seek revenge on Sidney after she killed her son Billy. She was the first female Ghostface which is iconic, but with her only having one kill, it made her forgettable.
- Charlie Walker
Charlie was a horror fan that was manipulated by Jill. He wanted to be the “Randy” to her “Sidney” and was infatuated with her. The reason why he is so low is because he didn’t really have a motive.
- Detective Bailey and Ethan Landry
Both Detective Bailey and Ethan take number 10 due to them having the same motive, which was to seek revenge on Samantha after killing Richie which was Detective Bailey’s son and Ethan’s brother. However, this is the same motive as Quinn, but I tend to be biased because of her iconic reveal.
- Richie Kirsch
Richie’s motive was the same as Ambers, which was to provide “source material” for a better Stab sequel by staging a real life “prequel.” He is the lowest in the list due to him being cringey and made his girlfriend, Amber, do all the killings.
