A Bucket Full of Sunshine: Snowball Stands Edition

When it comes to snowball stands, Zachary offers a large variety! The city’s three most well-known are Spicy Nacho, Virginia Street, and Snow Biz. All these snowball stands offer a refreshing selection of flavors, and some even offer food. With summer fast approaching, I took it upon myself to try a snowball from each of these three places and give you my honest review.

The rankings of the snowball stands are the staff writer’s opinions only.

Third Place: The Spicy Nacho

Spicy Nacho is more of a big concession stand. It has everything from hotdogs to snowballs. If you want to place an order, you’ll have to go through the drive-through. Although waiting for 30 minutes for my snowball was not ideal, it serves as a reminder that good things come to those who wait. In this case, the wait was well worth it during the high traffic time. Getting into the line was also a bit tricky, but thankfully, we got some help and eventually made our way through.

The snowball was delicious! I got KeyLime flavor and particularly liked the amount of syrup they put into it. The snowball was not overwhelmingly sweet, and it was easy to eat the whole thing without feeling like I would have a sugar crash. I will put this snowball stand third on the list only due to the wait and crowded drive-through, but the snowball itself was a 10/10.

I love their blue bubble gum condensed milk. My favorite part about them is their customer service. They are always smiling.

The snowballs are so refreshing, they make for a perfect treat for the summer.

Second Place: Virginia Street Snowballs

Virginia Street Snowball Stand is the newest of the group. It is conveniently situated in the historic district and has a wide range of flavors. The customer service here is excellent, and the employees are friendly. The snowball was delicious, especially the condensed milk, but it did get a bit messy and melted quickly. This business has the most seating out of all the stands and air conditioning inside the shop. I rank this one number two because the snowball was great. The shop is very high quality, and I genuinely enjoyed my experience there. This doesn’t get my first-place spot because of the nostalgia I get when I go to Snow Biz.

Virginia Street Snowballs is a great place to go during the summer months, and it is my favorite snowball shop in town.

First Place: Sno Biz

All these businesses had something great to offer, but I think the pièce de resistance is Snow Biz snowballs! For as long as I can remember, my parents took me to Snow Biz on the last day of school to kick off summer! Snow Biz has been around the longest and is my favorite. This has always been my go-to spot when I want to go grab a snowball with my friends.

Whenever I choose to go there, I am entirely certain that I will be getting the best of the best and enjoy a tasty snowball. This business has mastered the quality of its snowballs, and whenever I go there, it takes me right back to when I was younger. When I went there, I got the Island Breeze snowball, which was amazing! They somehow managed to make their ice last almost ten minutes before it began to melt. This business is a local gem, and I highly recommend it.

I love their condensed milk; I can’t eat it without it.
