The Zachary High Broncos continued to dominate the 2024 season with an important home win against the visiting Woodlawn Panthers. To start the night off, Starting Quarterback Caleb Gonzalez (12) connected with Running Back Davekio Ruffin (12) for an important first touchdown, and the Broncos never looked back.
All sides of the ball posted great numbers with the win, including multiple touchdown runs for Ruffin and Running Back Jecaryous Johnson (11).
The defensive side for the Broncos continued to dominate as they have in previous games, stopping any Woodlawn offensive attack and holding the Panthers to only one touchdown within the first half.
Jeremiah Smith (11) and Tycen Kimble (11) proved essential to the defense, recording numerous tackles and stops, along with the rest of the defense.
All sides of the ball added to the Bronco’s score, with kicker Rafael Costa (12) nailing a 47-yard bomb of a field goal right down the middle of the uprights.
Ruffin shared that he was proud of the team’s performance as a whole. They worked tirelessly this past week to improve and ensure that the game went smoothly. All their hard work seems to have paid off.
“We played good tonight, mostly because of the O-line and everybody doing their job,” said Ruffin, “Everyone was locked in this week, and we knew we had to come with that mentality. We had to go get it.”
