The ZHS Cross Country Team competed at the State Championships on Monday, November 18. The girls’ team finished 13th out of 23 teams, while the boys’ team finished 11th out of 24 teams. To compete at state is an honor for these athletes. One must first qualify at regionals to even have the opportunity to run. Destiny Thomas (12), Yvonne Harms (11), Anna Melius (11), Nala Mitchel (11), Emerald Hall (10), Erica Mayes (10), and Blair Smith (10) were the female athletes representing Zachary High. Smith and Mayes ran personal records, and Mitchel ran a season best!
The boys team was represented by Elijah Dunaway (12), William Goudeau (12), Connor Conachen (11), Jesse Ellis (11), Max Gennaro (10), Carson Southall (10), and Cullin Smith (9). Southall ran a personal record, and Ellis ran a season best!
We’re incredibly proud of these athletes. They raced their hardest and beat teams that have beaten them all season. The meet was the perfect end to the 2024 season!
