While running for Louisiana Beta Vice President, Alexander Knight (11) earned a prestigious recognition—he was personally praised by Baton Rouge Mayor Sid Edwards. After interviewing Knight, Edwards was impressed by his maturity and character, going so far as to publicly endorse him for the position.
Knight found inspiration in the mayor’s support, using it as motivation to push forward in his campaign despite the challenges he faced.
“It was already a struggle reaching out to different people,” Knight said. “The endorsement from the mayor really showed that all my efforts were paying off.”
Although he didn’t win the election, Knight remains a dedicated leader in our school’s Beta Club. He takes pride in his contributions, believing that his work not only strengthens the club but also makes a meaningful impact on the community.
“Beta Club is all about stepping into your community and helping wherever you can,” Knight said. “It’s about doing the right thing.”
As a leader, Knight emphasizes the importance of listening and taking action. He encourages fellow Betas to engage with their communities, seek out ways to help, and be courageous in their efforts to make a difference.
“You need to listen to what people want for the future,” Knight said. “You have to be outgoing—whether it’s volunteering in your community or simply talking to people, you need to put yourself out there.”
Though Knight may not be Louisiana Beta Vice President, his peers at Zachary High are incredibly proud of his leadership and dedication. We can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next year in the club and beyond.
