Senior night for any athletic activity is always a special moment for tons of players, coaches, and fans, and the senior celebration on April 1 for the Zachary baseball team was no exception. The Broncos and their 2025 seniors did not disappoint anyone who came to watch their Senior Night.
Skyler Andrews (12) made this night special by setting the record for the most stolen bases during one season, beating the previous record of 39 stolen bases that stood since 2007. Andrews will hopefully continue this streak going into the end of the season and playoffs, looking to extend the record past the 40 he set this year.
The Broncos took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning by scoring two runs after Jack Prejean (12) shut out Woodlawn in the first inning. The Broncos continued the offensive onslaught in the box, tagging on six more runs in the following in the 2nd and 3rd inning.
Jack Prejean (12) let up one earned run in the second inning, but it wasn’t enough to give the Panthers a comeback. Seniors Jake Lipscomb (12), Henry Green (12), Skyler Andrews (12), Karson Perkins (12), John Bradley (12), Fischer Romero (12), Carson Woodard (12), and Zacheriah Williams (12) were all honored and led the Broncos’ offense to power through Woodlawn. Jack Prejean (12), a pitcher only or PO, took the bump with power and held the Panthers on the defensive side.
All these players and more helped the Broncos have a 15-run lead and run-ruling the Woodlawn Panthers, ending the game in the 4th inning.
