Over the course of our week-long spring break, students undoubtedly took the opportunity to unwind and recharge, some even taking mini vacations with friends and family. For many, this break served as a stress releaser, providing time to catch up on studying or even study in preparation for the upcoming leap test. Typically, most students spend the break at home scrolling through any social media app as time goes by. However, some students planned out fun trips to enjoy the break on, a few even ventured out of the state! Here are a few students who enjoyed their spring break to the fullest, with photographs to set the tone!
For example, my spring break was very eventful, several places were visited! Over the break my birthday passed, so the entirety of the break was spent celebrating. On the very first day of the break my family and I traveled to Huston Texas for a mini vacation. The ride there felt very long, but my excitement made the ride tolerable. We stopped only once to eat food, and I enjoyed being able to listen to music with my headphones on the way there. When arriving the hotel automatically changed our original room to a suite because it was my birthday, which surprised me. However the even bigger surprise was when I entered the suite, I was greeted with a cake that said “happy birthday” for me. I almost immediately took a picture, the cake was a delicious flavor and I enjoyed it but got pretty upset when I ruined the “happy birthday” writing on the plate. The room itself was very beautiful , there was a big shower which looked like it could fit 10 people inside! Not mentioning the view from the window, it was full of green leaves and vines. When I had the time, I would sit next to the large window and read to add a whimsical feel to my mornings.
The hotel was also an athletic club, so plenty of places to get fit such as Pilates classes, swimming pools, a weight room and yoga rooms were set for guests to go and explore. When entering the athletic building the entire mood changed. Suddenly motivational words were painted on the walls, there was a distant sound of music playing from a class across the hall. When looking around some of the stores inside the building , I ended up buying one of those bunny JellyCats my classmates speak about. Me and my family went to play at the tennis courts and walk around for a while, mostly to burn off all the calories we ate at dinner! When even decided to return to the restaurant we spend dinner at for breakfast, it was a high-class restaurant, so the waiters were very polite, and the decoration was very fancy.
On the way back home, we made a last minute trip to Bucky’s. Previously I had never been to Bucky’s and wanted to give it a try. When pulling into the parking area I was shocked by how huge the area was, not knowing the gastation had an entire store within. It felt overwhelming walking around, the building was loud and Bucky merch was all over! The store had everything, I even found clothing for cups! There was a coat you can wrap around your cup to keep it warm for some reason. My father bought a shirt and I a bracelet.
Later on, my family made a trip to Jazz Fest, we dressed for hot weather but it wasn’t hot at all! There were plenty of artists to watch and music was heard from ever corner of the area. There were rows and rows of stands all selling creations, some altars being within those stands. Things stands were selling included polished cow hors, paintings, photographs, jewelry, clothing, and even engraved glass containers! Most of our time was spent browsing all the stands and exploring what the land had to offer. My mother was able to see some of her own favorite artists music and the stage was quite crowded when we arrived. I was able to try some new foods and see new artists as well as try on some pretty jewelry! Overall, my spring break was very fun and eventful. The spring break wasn’t just a break for me, it was a celebration!
Maddelyn Snyder (12) speaks about her fun time at Alabama’s Fort Morgan beach. Her friend Evelyn Godbold (12) and her sister Elizsbeth Godbold! (10) had the option to bring along a friend for the trip to Alabama due to their brother not participating that year. Elizabeth (10) decided to bring her friends Chloe Waddell (12), Raegan lynch (11), and Daijah Norflin (11). In the end Evelyn chose Maddelyn (12) to accompany her and join in on the fun!
“My friend Evenlyn Godbold was going to the beach with her family, and it was the first year her brother wants going with them, so her and her friend got to bring people, and she brought me,” said Maddelyn (12).
While staying at Fort Morgan, Madelyn (12) and her friend would often go down to the beach and enjoy the beautiful sunset. When the sun sets it looks like it’s disappearing into the ocean water, and it can be very calming to immerse yourself in the view. The fun doesn’t stop at sunsets, Madelyn (12) taught herself how to handstand as well, which can do doubt work up an appetite.
It was fun, the place we were staying had a bunch of pools so every day we would go down to the beach and go eat lunch at the pool. me and my friend Evelyn went out to the beach at sunset,” said Maddelyn (12)
When visiting the wharf area of Fort Morgan, the girls ran into plenty of stores to shop in. Souvenirs, clothing options, and food options are all over the plain, ready to be bought, used, and eaten. When shopping Evelyn found the perfect shirt, the art shows two girls riding in a jeep, one girl being bond (Like Maddelyn (12) and the other being brunette (Like Evelyn).
“I got a T-shirt from Lulu’s it’s this little shopping spot they have like, souvenirs me and my friend got matching T-shirts from there. Her shirt had a jeep with to girls in it that looked like us, one girl was blonde and the other was brunette,” said Maddelyn (12).
One student even went on a journey out of the country! Anna Beauchamp (12) went out of the country to visit England. She traveled at least 18 hours to visit her beloved sister, who is enrolled at the University of Roehampton.
“I went to England to visit my sister who’s doing a semester at the University of Roehampton in London,” said Anna (12).
Anna (12) visited several fun places with her sister including the Hampton Court Palace. The palace is a beautiful tall building which holds a tulip festival from April 11th to May 5th. Visitors can go see beautiful flowers and enjoy the museums the area has to offer.
“We went to Hampton Court Palace which is where Henry the VIII lived at some point. They have a tulip festival there, so we got to see the gardens! We also went to a couple museums like the Victoria Albert museum which was interesting to see all the artwork.”
Along with exploring different places, including beautiful flower filled gardens, Anna (12) and her sister found a very cool perfume place. The way the perfume place operates is very different from the average perfume store. You provide your own opinions, likes, and dislikes on perfume and the employee brings you perfumes based on that!
“We found this cool perfume place where all the perfumes are behind BIG counters, you speak to the employee and tell them what kind of perfume you like and they bring you different perfumes based on what you like,” said Anna.
To savor the trip, Anna (12) and her sister went out to eat many delicious foods. Some of England’s foods can be very different in comparison to foods in U.S.A and could use some adjusting to. Despite the difference, Anna (12) still managed to find a new favorite! Gelato, a sweet treat which can be translated to the word ice cream stole her heart and taste buds.
We ate at a bunch of different places with different types of food but my favorite thing I ate was definitely all the gelato- it was so much better than the gelato here,” said Anna.
The spring break was an exciting time for many and is a great time to relax and recollect. Whether a student travels with their family and friends, stays home, visits family, or even goes out the country, spring break can be very fun! Over the course of the break these students took the opportunity to completely recharge and some very fun stories are the result!
