The Broncos opened their season with yet another statement win in their season-opening jamboree last Friday, August 29th, at the Bronco Corral. The Livonia Wildcats marched across the river from Pointe Coupee to face the Broncos, kicking off another season. The Broncos handled the wildcats accordingly, with the Bronco freshman defeating the JV Wildcats 7-6, and the Varsity team shutting out the Wildcats 21-0.
Although the game was only two halves, the Broncos put up impressive offensive numbers throughout the two quarters. Wide Receiver Ethan Kimmie (11) opened the scoring for the Broncos with a touchdown pass from Bronco Quarterback Michael Kirby (12). The Broncos continued their offensive onslaught on the ground with Tylek Lewis (11) punching in a rushing touchdown.
Kylin Jones (10) capped off the Broncos’ night with a touchdown, finishing the game at 21-0 in favor of the Broncos at the end of the half.
Kirby put up impressive offensive numbers in his first Varsity start this season for the Broncos. The joint effort from the Broncos’ defensive front and secondary stopped all attacks from the Wildcats, holding them scoreless throughout the game.
The Broncos kicked off their season strong, sending the Wildcats back on the bus for an hour-long drive home with no touchdowns to show for it. Zachary High School opens their highly anticipated regular season at home against the Plaquemine High Green Devils on September 5 in the Bronco Corral.
