With Valentine’s Day approaching, all anyone can think about is romance, chocolate, and love in the air. The stores around town display flowers, balloons, heart-shaped candy, cards, and more as customers eagerly shop for a special someone. But all the single girls out there look forward to a different celebration: Galentines Day!
Created by the Parks and Rec character Leslie Knope in the second season of the show when she decided to honor the women in her life, Galentines Day has been around since 2010. It’s a way for single girls to come together and share their love and appreciation for each other in a platonic way. Most friend groups throw mini celebrations and partake in fun Galentines Day activities, so we’ve compiled a list of things to do with your girls this Friday!
1.) Baking!
If you and your friends enjoy baking or cooking together, check out these ideas! You can bake heart-shaped foods and desserts. For example, you can make a heart-shaped pizza by rolling out the dough and gently forming it into a heart with your hands. You can also make a heart-shaped cake by cutting off the edges of the cake into a heart. If you want something a little easier, try looking for some heart-shaped cookie cutters to make cookies with!

2.) Watch a movie!
Looking for something that takes absolutely no effort? Watch a romantic movie! You and your friends can all wear your coziest PJs and munch on yummy snacks while you watch a movie together. If you’re in the mood for a fun rom-com, try Anyone But You, Clueless, Mamma Mia!, Crazy Rich Asians, 13 Going On 30, or something else! Maybe you’re in the mood for something a little more serious but still romantic. The Notebook, Notting Hill, Pride and Prejudice, or Titanic might be perfect for you!
3.) Arts and Crafts!
Arts and crafts are always a fun way to connect with your friends! So many cute options exist, but these are some of our favorites. If you’re looking for something simple and mess-free, you could make clay magnets! All you have to do is design your clay, bake it, paint it, and hot glue a magnet on the back of it! Another idea that doesn’t require paint is bedazzling hair clips. Take some plain, boring claw clips or headbands and add some rhinestones to make them even more unique! You can also do this with sunglasses. If you don’t mind using paint, your friend group could try painting pottery or painting candles!

4.) Gift Baskets!
If you want to show your friends how much you care, consider making them gift baskets. Stuffed animals, chocolates (or candy if she prefers), flowers, fuzzy socks, and books are just a few ideas that could light up your best friend’s day!
