Girls Basketball Senior Night

With the season coming to an end and playoffs right around the corner, the Lady Broncos played the Central Wildcats at home for their 2023 senior night.

The Lady Broncos’ senior night was a great success. Before entering the gym, tables were set up in the foyer of memorabilia of the girls’ basketballs five seniors Natilie Carpenter, Samantha Hamilton, Tayln Thomas, Alissa O’Dell, Bria Raymond, and Tayln Thomas. The seniors were recognized before the game started, the Zachary  cheerleaders created a runway for all the seniors to walk down as their name was being called. Each senior was gifted a ball by their coach, Tami Mclure; each player received a personalized ball with their team’s name, first and last name and jersey number.

By the end of the first half, the Lady Broncos led by 15 points. It was evident that the Lady Broncos were much taller and stronger, making it easy for them to maintain their lead. During half time, the band of blue entertained the crowd with popular hits like Choppa Style, Freshman Funk, Peabody, and more.  The third quarter soon began, Central could not compete with the athleticism of the Lady Broncos, making the game an easy win. The Lady Broncos continued to dominate the Central Wildcats in the second half, with the final score being 69-35.  After the final buzzer sounded,  students, cheerleaders, players and coaches stood alongside each other swaying and singing Zachary High’s alma mater, making the night perfect. Good luck to the #4 Seeded Lady Broncos as they enter playoff season to compete for the 4-5A State Championship title.

The Girls’ Basketball team received a bye game during the 1st round of the playoffs. The team will play in the 2nd round in the Havoc House on Monday, February 20.
