That is the reality for most people that make resolutions. Resolutions fail so often because some people set unreasonable or unrealistic goals, or people set goals then their mindset fails and leaves binary success or no room for progress. People also set vague goals stating to only do something and not elaborate little goals or milestones. An example of that would be saying, “Get fit” instead of setting goals to get and stay fit. Setting unrealistic goals is hard and it takes longer to complete because it makes you expect something when really it might take months to get there. More reasons that make goals hard are timelines that are set, no system or support structures, and life just happens. With all these resolutions, you must create that mindset on how you’re going to set and achieve all your goals that you set out.
If you want to complete these new goals, however, there are many habits you can take up to help you along the way. One habit to start when you want to complete something is to do it consistently, and keep doing it at a good pace, don’t rush yourself. When rushing something or yourself, it can cause a lot of stress, things would get complete right, or it could ruin a schedule. Pacing yourself is easier than getting it done wrong. Another habit could be to not be vague about your goal, it’s like asking for a gift but not giving specific things. Someone might say, “drink water” or “only drink water”, instead of saying that you could say “Drink more water”. A final habit you should be practicing is to set long term goals and within the long term there should be milestones. Milestones are there to help you achieve that long-term goal; it will help you in the long run because even if you don’t want to complete the long-term goal, you still have a lot of progress.
