U.S president Donald Trump has said that the U.S will run the country until they can have a safe proper political transition. Running the country will not cost anything because the U.S will be reimbursed in oil money as they plan to sell the Venezuelan oil. Trump has plans to rebuild the oil infrastructure that will cost billions, but the oil companies will pay for the rebuild directly. He also says that America is ready if a second attack is needed but suggests that it is not necessary. Maduro and his wife have been accused of being top-level members of a drug group called “Cartel De Los Soles”. “Cartel De Los Soles” is a network of high-ranking Venezuelan military officials allegedly involved in drug trafficking and corruption. Maduro is also accused of a conspiracy to commit narcoterrorism, to import cocaine and possessing machineguns and destructive devices. Trump has claimed that Venezuela under Maduro hosted foreign adversaries in the U.S region and has offensive weapons that could be a threat to U.S interest and lives of its citizens.
The hundreds of thousands of Venezuelan migrants in America have been blamed on Maduro as well. Trump who is focused on fighting the flow of drugs mostly fentanyl and cocaine into the U.S has been accused by Maduro that his war on drugs is a way to defend his reasoning on trying to remove Maduro from office and get America’s hands on Venezuela’s immense oil reserves. As all these events happen the Venezuelan people have mixed views on the country’s changes. Though the harsh dictatorship has fallen some citizens say that Trump cares more about oil than human rights. Believing that, he is more focused on controlling the countries’ oil reserves than reinstating its democracy.

Moving forward Trump plans to still engage with those remaining of the Venezuelan government. U.S. military will still be postured and ready just in case of surprises. Through all of this, the oil embargo on Venezuela will continue to remain in effect. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has spoken about Trumps operation saying that the U.S is acting like a world judge. He also says that the authority and security of all countries should be protected fully under international law. China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that China still was maintaining positive communication with the Venezuelan government. Russia’s Foreign Ministry has expressed that Maduro’s capture was an unacceptable invasion on the sovereignty of an independent state. Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay have communicated their deep concern and nonacceptance of the military action carried out unilaterally in Venezuela which violates fundamental principles of international law. Even though some international leaders don’t agree with Trump’s decision, close ally to Trump, Argentinian President Javier Milei has expressed his beliefs of long live freedom and how freedom moves forward. Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s Prime Minster congratulated Trump for his bold and historic leadership on behalf of justice and freedom.
As there are mixed views on this historic operation and the reasons behind it people wonder why Donald Trump really captured Nicholas Maduro. As there are expected to be many changes to the country of Venezuela and its oil, the citizens have mixed views on Trump’s plan and the future of their country.
