The 2022 People’s Choice Awards Recap

The 48th People’s Choice Awards occurred on Tuesday, December 6th in Santa Monica, California. From favorite actors to musicians, everyone was in the spotlight!

Live from the Barker Hanger, a popular event venue, actor and comedian Kenan Thompson hosted the annual People’s Choice Awards. While hosting the second year’s show, Thompson initiated the ceremony by introducing performer Lauren Spencer Smith as she performed “Fingers Crossed.” Music Icon Award Recipient, Shaina Twain performed a swoon-worthy medley of her hits, including her latest single, “Waking Up Dreaming,” from her Queen of Me album. 

Fashion icon Billy Porter, actor Colin Hanks, comedian Nikki Glaser, NBA Champion Dwayne Wade, and many more presented various People’s Choice Awards to achieving artists, celebrities, and actors. In addition, actor and producer Ryan Reynolds was honored with the People’s Choice Icon Award. Singer and flutist, Lizzo, was presented with the People’s Champion Award, and Canadian singer Shaina Twain earned the People’s Music Icon Award. With the PCAs celebrating the achievements of Movies, TV, Actors, Celebrities, and Artists, who received the most recognition? 

Movies

As the year’s most anticipated film, Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness achieves The Movie of the Year Award (PCA). Serving as the sequel to the Disney+ series, Wandavision, Dr. Strange dives into the multiverse to stop the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) from destroying humanity. In addition, actress Elizabeth Olsen (left) is The Female Movie Star of 2022 (PCA) and The Action Movie Star of 2022 (PCA).

 

 

 

 

 

 

Obtaining a notable win, Marvel actor, Chris Hemsworth (right) is The Male Movie Star of 2022 (PCA) for his acting in Thor: Love and Thunder. The award-winning film follows Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) retirement as he is interrupted a galactic killer who plans to eliminate all gods from existence.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

TV

 

Considered the most binge-worthy and enticing shows, Stranger Things earns the title of The Show of 2022 (PCA) and the Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show of 2022 (PCA). Since the announcement of Stranger Things: Season 5, fans have been impatiently waiting for the final season of the best show yet! Noah Schnapp (left) wins The Male TV Star of the 2022 (PCA) for his performance in the series as Will Byers. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

One of the longest running drama series, Grey’s Anatomy, wins The Drama Show of 2022 (PCA). The medical drama follows the life of Meredith Grey and her colleagues at Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital, as they navigate love, heartbreak, family, and the struggles of their demanding job. Making an appearance, Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) (right) achieves The Female TV Star of 2022 (PCA).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Considered the most popular and spoken about family, The Kardashians won The Reality Show of 2022 (PCA). Rising to prominence in the 2000s, Khloe (bottom left), Kendall (left), Kim (center left), Kris (center right), Kylie (right), and Kourtney Kardashian (bottom right) participate in the longest-running reality TV show with 20 seasons. Separately, Khloe Kardashian (bottom left) won The Reality Star of 2022 (PCA).

 

 

 

 

 

 

Selena Gomez earned awards as an actress and social celebrity as The Comedy Star of 2022 (PCA) for her performance in Only Murders in the Building and The Social Celebrity of 2022 (PCA). The former Disney star not only acts but models and pursues her musical career as a singer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Music

Winning one of the night’s highest honors, Lizzo (far left) wins The People’s Champion Award and The Song of 2022 for “About Damn Time” on her latest album, Special. Shari-Johnson Jefferson (left), Lizzo’s mother, presented her daughter with these honors. Lizzo advocates for plus-size women and continues to push for change in the world.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As one of the most popular bands in the world, BTS wins the title of The Group of the 2022 (PCA) for the fourth year in a row. Furthermore, the septet achieves The Concert Tour of 2022 (PCA) for their 2021-2022 Permission to Dance: On Stage Tour, performing in cities across the U.S. and South Korea. Individual member Jung Kook (top row, center) earns Collaboration of 2022 with Charlie Puth for “Left & Right.” Jung Kook is the first Korean soloist to win a People’s Choice Award.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

American pop and country music icon, Taylor Swift, earns the award for The Female Artist of 2022 (PCA), The Album of 2022 (PCA) for Midnights, and the honorary Music Video of 2022 (PCA) for “Anti-Hero”, on Midnights. This is the first time Swift earned accolades for her Midnights and is predicted to win many more. Swift’s future endeavors include her 2023 Eras Tour.

YouTube personality, Mr. Beast is The Social Star of 2022 (PCA). He is famous for his wealth and for pioneering the YouTube genre catering to expensive stunts. With a following of over 116 million subscribers, he has the fourth-most-subscribed platform.
